Make a Spelling Chart or Word Family Chart

If you are looking for a spelling activity for your students or child, try Read, Write and Think’s Alphabet Organizer. This interactive web site enables a student to type in words and then print them out in numerous ways. For this lesson, I am going to tell you how to make a word chart of spelling words.

Directions to tell your students:

  1. Visit bTcacTus.org and click on the Learning Centers Section
  2. Click on the Blue cactus – the spelling cactus –
  3. Click on the purple section called the Alphabet Organizer
    1. Type in your name
    2. Type in the at (because we are doing words with the at family)
    3. Click OK
    4. Choose Option #2
    5. Choose A
      1. type in at
    6. Choose C
      1. type in cat
    7. Choose F
      1. type in fat
    8. Choose H
      1. type in hat
    9. Etc. etc – go with as many at family words as you wish
    10. Click on the printer
    11. Choose Chart
    12. Click on the Print button
